Denver East High School Dean to Get Bella's Buddies Dog Following Shooting
Eric Sinclair was shot multiple times in March 2023 while searching a student for weapons at Denver East High School. The student later died by suicide.
After being released from the hospital, Eric visited Lowry Elementary School where Liberty and Hank, two members of our DogSquad, help students and staff everyday. Eric saw many different ways the dogs improve daily school activities and was impressed by their attentive nature to his own needs. Bella’s Buddies is planning to place a dual-purpose service dog with Mr. Sinclair in spring 2025. He plans to use the dog as his partner when he returns to school. The dog will also help students who are struggling by bridging connections, helping with grief support, easing test anxiety and improving communication.
